Alan has over thirty years of broad-based business experience with extensive expertise in the areas of corporate restructuring, business management and strategic planning, complex financing transactions, capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, and financial and SEC reporting.

Alan leads Mackinac Partners’ corporate restructuring activities, including the representation of debtors and creditors in bankruptcy reorganizations and out-of-court restructurings. Alan has had key roles in numerous client engagements including acting as the interim Chief Operating Officer for the European subsidiary of the world’s largest vacation ownership company. He has also played key roles in several other successful Chapter 11 restructurings including a publicly traded developer and operator of vacation ownership resorts and a $75 million national commercial bakery. He has also led numerous other restructuring cases including representing secured creditors, unsecured creditors and other bankruptcy stakeholders and has served as a Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 Trustee. Alan’s industry representation includes retail, manufacturing, financial services, real estate, construction and distribution.

Prior to joining Mackinac Partners, Alan was a Managing Director for KPMG’s Southeastern United States Corporate Recovery Group. He also held various executive management positions for distressed organizations, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a $700 million privately held convenience store chain; Director of Reorganization during the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of a $300 million publicly traded operator and franchiser of fast food restaurants; and Senior Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Directors of a $350 million mass merchandise retailer.

Alan began his career in 1981 with Arthur Andersen. During his 10 years there, he developed an expertise in retail and wholesale distribution, real estate, financial services and hospitality industries.

Alan graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Western Kentucky University. He serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for Florida Health Alliance and is an Executive Committee member of the Accounting Excellence Association at Western Kentucky University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
