Bloomfield Hills, MI – Mackinac Partners, a leading financial advisory, turnaround management and restructuring firm has expanded its national practice with a new office in Chicago, Illinois.
The firm also recently announced the addition of highly accomplished restructuring executive Melissa S. Kibler as Senior Managing Director based out of Chicago, joining Managing Director Matthew Beresh. Headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, MI the firm opened its second Midwest office at 180 N. LaSalle Street. The firm also has offices in Los Angeles, Dallas and Boston (opened late November 2016).
Kibler has over 25 years of financial advisory, restructuring and turnaround management experience. She also has extensive investigative, litigation and valuation experience, including insolvency-related litigation, avoidance actions, fraud investigations, merger and acquisition disputes, director and officer claims, and other commercial litigation support and expert testimony. She has led or served in senior roles on teams delivering exceptional solutions for clients such as the examiner in Residential Capital, where she investigated potential claims against parent Ally Financial and related parties, leading to a $2.1 billion global settlement.
Kibler has also represented debtors or estate fiduciaries in matters such as Tronox, Sprint, Sentinel Management Group, North Pacific Group, Havens Steel, Capital Consultants, and Iridium, and has advised creditors or official committees in cases such as Energy Future Holdings, Savient Pharmaceuticals, Neff, Tribune, Chrysler, Quebecor, Engineered Plastic Products, Kmart, Bethlehem Steel, Warnaco Group and Singer. She has provided litigation support or expert testimony in matters such as American Commercial Lines, Keywell, International Offshore Services, ASARCO, Amaranth and Enron.
Beresh has been with Mackinac Partners for 15 years and has served as CFO and in other senior roles on many key turnaround and restructuring engagements, including Hostway, Playpower, Norwood Promotional Products, AgFeed Industries and lia sophia. He has significant distressed buy-side and sell-side M&A experience, including assisting a leading global timeshare company in the acquisition and integration of multiple distressed competitors with total transaction values of greater than $450 million.
Mackinac Partners, which was awarded the TMA’s 2014 Transaction of the Year – Large Company Award for its complex international restructuring of AgFeed Industries Inc, is expected to hire a number of additional restructuring professionals to the Chicago practice.
