Alden is a Director with considerable expertise in financial analysis, due diligence, corporate finance, cash flow modeling, and sell-side and buy-side transactions. Alden has extensive experience performing in-depth company valuations, market and sector analysis, company purchase assessments and performance analysis, divestiture and liquidation analysis, and M&A execution including origination, marketing, and buyer and deal assessments.

Alden has advised clients and portfolio companies on business development, corporate development, financing activities and divestitures, including participating at board meetings, developing capitalization metrics, and developing liquidation analyses and comprehensive operating models. Alden advised the shareholders for SilverRail Technologies Inc. on its $150 million sale to Expedia, Inc. and Achievers Corp. on its $111 million sale to Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc. as well as advising Vela Systems, Inc. on its $76 million sale to Autodesk, Inc.

Alden also has significant buy-side transactional experience and has assisted several investment firms and holding companies expand and develop their portfolio of companies. Alden has performed detailed due diligence and made recommendations on prospective investment opportunities for acquirers. He has conducted prospective customer and market research, authored investment and acquisition memoranda and performed in-depth company valuation analyses. Alden has developed detailed financial models to evaluate and assess varying operational scenarios, including post M&A integration and performance to assist stakeholders, board members, and company directors in purchase and post-purchase decisioning.

Prior to joining Mackinac Partners, Alden served as a Principal for GrandBanks Capital in Needham, MA where he assisted in nearly 100 transactions, totaling over $1B of value, and helped to manage $225M in early stage venture capital investments, largely across the technology sector. While at GrandBanks Capital, Alden’s transaction experience included the sale of 16 portfolio companies and helped to facilitate more than 70 portfolio company financings.

Alden also previously served as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Technology, Media, and Telecom group at Jefferies & Company in Waltham, MA where he assisted with many sell-side mergers and acquisitions, including the $217 million sale of iBasis Technologies to Royal KPN, and the $142 million divestiture of Porex Corporation from HLTH Corporation to Aurora Capital.

Alden earned a Bachelor’s of Science in management with a concentration in finance and a major in mathematics from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He is an accomplished competitive sailor who has competed on the World Match Racing Tour and has won multiple major national and international events including the Swan 42 National Championship, the 2013 & 2015 Keelboat Team Racing National Championship, and the 2011 International One Design World Championship.
