Jim has more than 5 years of financial advisory, due diligence, and strategic and transactional M&A advisory experience across a broad range of industries and business organizations including financial services firms, investment banking firms, private equity firms, hedge funds, middle-market and Fortune 500 companies.
Jim has strong experience helping companies gain a consistent view of their financial position and operations in advance of transactions or throughout restructuring activities. He has provided financial and operational advisory services for clients including: M&A due diligence; detailed financial statements analysis; SWOT and industry benchmarking and analysis; cash flow modeling; evaluation and development of deal-based risk assessments; transaction valuations; and detailed financial modeling with incorporated pro forma adjustments to reflect earnings quality and normalized non-recurring events.
Jim recently provided financial and accounting due diligence services across thirteen cross-industry transactions for equity sponsors and strategic buyers including development of detailed transactional models with a focus on the acquisition target’s value drivers, deal issues, quality of earnings and cash flows. Jim also provided on-site due diligence advisory services to the CFO of a market leading multi-channel fashion retailer of women’s apparel and accessories, including marketing sales materials for management and development of data room documents for buy-side diligence teams.
Jim also partnered with the Corporate Finance Division of a large firm as a lead analyst for a large on four portfolio sell side transactions including development of detailed diligence procedures in conjunction with investment banking services on their sell-side transactions.
Prior to joining Mackinac Partners, James served in several positions within the Financial Advisory industry, including Associate in Alvarez and Marsals’ Transaction Advisory Group; Financial Analyst in Houlihan Lokey’s Transaction Advisory Group; and as a Senior Assurance Associate in Financial Services for Ernst and Young.
Across these roles Jim assisted with many M&A deals, portfolio reviews and financial assessments, including performing financial review and advisory across six private equity funds on a $4 billion private equity client, assisting in the portfolio strategy and disposition of underperforming assets for an industry leading $15 billion hedge fund client; and leading assurance engagements, including assurance review and procedures development for a $220B asset management firm with eight funds specializing in the municipal bond market.
Jim graduated Cum Laude from St. Norbert College, Wisconsin with a BBA in Finance. He has also studied abroad at Lancaster University in England.View Other Professionals
