Matt is an Associate with considerable expertise in financial analysis, debt restructuring, credit and portfolio analysis, cash flow modeling, due diligence, risk management, and securities valuations. Matt has been an integral team member on numerous turnaround management engagements and merger and acquisition transactions.

Matt has experience in both buy-side and sell-side transactions and has deep expertise in the valuation of complex cash and derivative securities. His experience on the sell-side includes supporting several trading desks in the product controller and operations specialist functions, including assisting in distressed debt scenarios which included re-organizations both in and out of bankruptcy as well as liquidations. He has significant experience in credit analysis and the valuation of credit oriented securities, including syndicated loans, high yield debt, credit derivatives, trade claims, private placements, municipal bonds, and structured securities.

Matt recently assisted in a buy-side transaction for a middle market for-profit education client, including the development of financial models, forecasts, valuations and related ad-hoc analysis to support the company acquisition and integration. Matt has also provided financial analysis at a global $26 billion AUM family office that engages in both hedge fund investment strategies as well as private equity investments. Matt provided real time and daily reporting of profit and loss, valuations, and risk metrics for a broad array of securities, investments and strategies including Long/Short Equity, Global Macro, Distressed Credit, and Structured Credit.

Prior to joining Mackinac Partners, Matt worked as a Data Analyst for Soros Fund Management, a large global investment firm. Previously, Matt worked as an Associate at Goldman Sachs & Co in New York, and he originally began his career as a Credit Analyst for JPMorgan Chase & Co in Dallas.

Matt earned his Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Finance and an Investments emphasis from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University.  He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
