Michael has over 25 years of experience as a senior financial and operations executive leading domestic and international companies to help improve financial performance, strengthen capital structure, improve supply chain and operations performance, and implement new growth strategies. Michael has deep expertise in corporate finance, capital raising, M&A transactions, complex financial restructurings, operations management, process re-engineering, controllership, accounting, planning and analysis, supply chain integration, business process design and systems management integration.
Michael recently served as CFO and COO of a leading designer and manufacturer of protective equipment and ballistic and laser protective eyewear for the military and security sectors. In this role, Michael led the Company’s three-year strategic and operational planning development, financial and operational organization development, as well as the Finance and Information Technology Services groups. He also led all M&A and corporate strategic restructuring activities, including a comprehensive corporate re-financing and the divestiture of the Company’s founding optics business to a private investment firm. Michael served as the President of the recently divested Optics division.
Michael served as CFO of a high-tech provider of automation services for the semiconductor, LED, OLED, flat panel display and other demanding equipment markets. Michael led finance and operations and directed the Company’s capital raise activities to help provide revenue to scale operations and profitability.
Michael also served of CFO and COO of a textile manufacturer where he was responsible for finance, operations and assisted in strategic planning development and roll-out. Michael developed the go-forward strategic plan used to underwrite the company’s recapitalization and spearheaded a financial and operational turnaround across the planning, purchasing, supply chain and customer operations areas. He also served as interim Co-CEO for a period of time.
Michael served as Executive Vice President, Finance and CFO for a developer and manufacturer of high performance, branded textile products, the inventor of modern synthetic fleece, and foundational pillar of the outdoor apparel market. Michael helped lead the Company’s restructuring and turnround, including a §363 sale and complex restructuring. He also led multi-year strategic planning activities focused on increased growth and value creation. He led process re-engineering including the expansion of the company’s international sourcing supply chain infrastructure. Michael also led the integration of cost accounting and foreign office reporting systems, the Company’s annual planning and monthly forecasting processes including development of a standard framework of monthly, weekly internal and external reporting. Results included top-line growth of 50% and greater than 500% EBITDA growth.
Michael led financial and back-office integration for a $6 billion global developer, manufacturer and distributer of clinical and laboratory supplies, including global manufacturing site consolidation related to a $3 billion acquisition.
Michael served in various senior roles for a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of automation equipment and logistical control software products used in semiconductor fabrication and other process industries. Michael served as Director of Business Integration, Director of Operations for a Germany-based manufacturing facility, Director of Product Marketing for the company’s factory interface product lines, and Controller of Global Operations.
Michael helped drive restructuring and integration activities which yielded a $300 million reduction in annual break-even, manufacturing and engineering consolidation (15 to 5 sites), business system consolidation (14 to 1). He also performed due diligence and integration analysis for key M&A acquisitions and developed a data and process integrity group to establish metrics and processes for control, standards of conforming values, and the development of ISO 2000 procedures.
Prior to Mackinac Partners, Michael previously served as CFO and COO for companies that include Revision Military and Duro Industries and CFO for Persimmon Technologies and Maiden Mills Industries/Polartec, LLC. He has also led financial and business integration for companies that include Fisher Scientific International Inc. and Brooks Automation.
Michael began his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers, where he earned his CPA designation.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Entrepreneurial Studies with a concentration in Sociology and Economics from Babson College, Wellesley MA.View Other Professionals
