Ben is an Associate with experience in financial analysis and modeling, equity research, distressed debt analysis, portfolio management, due diligence, strategic planning, capital raises and investment, and residential real estate transactions.

Ben recently served as a value investor for a closely-held investment firm, managing $200 million of capital invested in public equities. Ben has extensive experience researching businesses within the industrial, financial, gaming, communication, consumer, and energy sectors. He created and implemented the first internal research process in the company’s history and received buy-in from the 11-member Investment Committee. As a result of his research efforts, Ben was able to outperform the S&P 500 by a cumulative 1,500 basis points over a three-year period. Ben also developed the company’s first risk management, capital allocation, and strategic planning frameworks in collaboration with the CEO and presented these frameworks to the Board of Directors.

Ben recently served as Co-Founder & President of Adenium Holdings, a small Rhode Island-based residential real estate development firm that acquires, develops, and operates multi-family residential real estate holdings with over 60 units under ownership. Ben helped grow run-rate annual revenue to over $1M in three years without outside equity investors while expanding and managing a team of three employees and six contractors. He also developed a five-year business plan that consists of raising $3M of equity capital, acquiring 1,000 units, hiring five more employees, and initiating an equity-in-housing division with municipal partners.

Ben previously served as a High Yield Credit and Equity Research Investment Associate for Putnam Investments in Boston, MA. While at Putnam, Ben formulated investment ideas by conducting bottom-up fundamental research and meeting with company’s management teams, leading to dozens of investments in Putnam funds. He developed a process to analyze distressed debt securities with senior team members, resulting in the development of a new team investment capability and a 72% annualized return on investment. He assessed and supported equity and credit holdings across the metals & mining, packaging, consumer, food & beverage, restaurants, retail, and energy sectors.

Ben earned a B.S. in Quantitative Economics, summa cum laude, from Tufts University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and an Investor & Advisory Board Member for LadderUp Housing, a rent-to-own residential real estate company that focuses on removing barriers to home ownership for working class individuals and families.
